Katrina Holland is a 2013 graduate of Montserrat College of Art.  She specializes in children's book illustration and has also done some editorial work.  Katrina is skilled in creating surface designs and pattern repeats for textiles.  Katrina works comfortably in watercolor, acrylic, pencil, charcoal, and clay.  She has experience working in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and Corel Draw.  Katrina's abilities allow her illustrations to be eclectic in style and medium, choosing one over another depending on what the client is looking for or the desired demographic.

History:
Katrina has loved drawing since she was a child and continued to outshine her pears with her ever growing artistic abilities which by middle school included small scale sculpture and realistic pencil drawings.  As an adolescent Katrina attended a summer art program at Montserrat, the very college where she would one day achieve her BFA.  In high school Katrina attended a trade school where she built up her portfolio studying art, illustration, and graphic design for 3.5 years.  Though this school was booming with artistic talent, Katrina continued to prove her skill while doing what she loved and won numerous 1st, 2nd, 3rd, best of show, and honorable mention awards each year at the annual art shows.  Katrina's goals/aspirations at that time were to teach art and become an illustrator of children's books and greeting cards. Katrina's college years were spent attending part-time college while working 2-3 jobs at a time.  One of these jobs was a position as art teacher grades k-5 at a private school.  Though she flourished as an untrained teacher Katrina felt she could accomplish more and give her students more by attending an art ed. program. After teaching and attending classes at Montserrat college of art for 3 years, Katrina quit teaching to devote more time to her studies (frankly, it was taking too long!)  During this time Katrina was married and as she always volunteered (and still does) for many ministries at her church, her husband got her involved with one in particular that has given Katrina invaluable media developer/art director experience overseeing and designing the logos, t-shirts, and advertisements for the Reach the Beach Revere outreach/festival.  Katrina has graduated  with a bachelors degree in illustration and has nearly completed her requirements for a MA educators licence to teach k-12 art.  Now that she has graduated and seeks employment Katrina ventures toward some of the same goals yet a few more desires have been added to her list of educator and illustrator. Katrina also has an interest in textile design, creating patterns for things like bed sets and notebooks.  She is also interested in sculpting and possibly prosthetic sculpting.
